This comical tale runs along two story lines:
1) How Allan Karlsson (The Hundred-Year-Old Man) and his equally quirky friends must go on the run and avoid being found at any cost.
2) Allan's life story - taking us right the way through the one-hundred-years of his life.
It's easy to love this book from start to finish - the tone is spot on, allowing a light-hearted look at some of the significant moments of the past century. (Admittedly, it taught me a few things my history lessons never got round to!) The endearing character of Allan will have you laughing out loud and his travelling companions more so. My only piece of advice would be: don't worry about how daft the turn of events are on occasion. Allan Karlsson will quickly become the extra grandfather you wish you had.
